ligare gatherings are always built around an activity that helps people get to know each other—fun, learning, and discussion—but the activity is never the main focus. Our initial pilots will focus on board games, and expand over time into crafts, storytelling, wine tasting, book clubs, and topical discussions.
To get started, we ask you to express your interest, to tell us about yourself, and what kinds of gatherings you would like to join in an initial personality assessment. Our gatherings are invite only, and planned around like-minded and like-identified people, where it counts—recent transplants, age groups, couples and parents, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and more. We seek to build an inclusive, welcoming space for everyone, and also recognize that similarity / difference are both fuels for connection.
At a ligare gathering, every detail is managed to create opportunities for you to get to know your fellow guests. We invite a compatible crowd, plan the seating chart, set the mood, create space for connection, put away phones, and prepare an evening tailored to help you hit it off with multiple people.
After the gathering, we follow up to learn how it went, and who you really got to know and like. Then, we’ll offer to connect you with your mutual connections. The rest is up to you.
how we do it
We’ll ask you to tell us first about who you are, what you like to do, and who you’re interested in meeting. Then, we’ll reach out with an invite when we have a gathering planned that looks like a good fit.
Gathering prices will vary based on the activity, but the price will be in line with a good night out, a concert, or other fun activity. We commit to making sure we have a critical mass of committed guests, or we will cancel the gathering and refund you—the point is to meet each other!
Invites will always come at least 2 weeks before a gathering, so you have time to plan and commit. We’ll ask you to put your phone down as much as possible, so please plan accordingly.
We’ll host gatherings inside the loop, in partnership with other spaces, typically with wine / coffee / lite bites available for purchase. Gatherings take place approximately from 6:00 – 10:00 on weeknights (for now); if lite bites aren’t enough, you may want to eat before you come.
